Tradition and Renewal – Folk Crafts and Contemporary Fashion
Discover the rich world of traditional folk craftsmanship, where centuries-old skills are brought to life in contemporary creations!

The exhibition features the leatherwork of Balázs Hajdu, a folk leatherworker, as well as works created by Éva Hajduné Láposi, a folk embroiderer, in collaboration with other artisans. Visitors can also admire cifraszűr embroidered traditional Hungarian shepherds’ coats, created jointly by Péter Szőke, a folk applied artist, and Ferenc Porkoláb, Master of Folk Art.
The meeting of tradition and modern design is reflected in contemporary formal wear created in collaboration with fashion designer Klára Szombati, as well as modern women’s clothing made together with members of the Kiscsősz Weaving Workshop.
The exhibition offers an insight into the rich heritage of folk crafts, the diversity of traditional artisanal techniques, and the many ways in which these traditions can be preserved and reimagined for future generations.
